La Guadua
At the western edge of the Andes Mountains, where the clouds meet the land at around 2,300 meters above sea level, lies La Guadua, a farm cultivated by Edgar Jimmy Gómez and Edison Burbano. Both are second-generation coffee producers, carrying forward a family tradition of growing coffee in the highlands of Nariño.
In 2025, their coffee took 1st place in La Mejor Taza de Mi Nariño, achieving a remarkable auction price of USD 150 per pound. The result brought wider recognition to La Guadua and highlighted the exceptional potential of coffee grown in this remote, high-altitude environment.
Surrounded by native forest, La Guadua has been shaped by a philosophy as straight and resilient as the guadua bamboo from which the farm takes its name. Rooted in respect for its natural surroundings and a steadfast approach to coffee production, the farm is now gaining attention well beyond Colombia.
