Ethiopia Gesha Village

Gesha Village

Deep in the Gori Gesha forest of Bench Maji, southwestern Ethiopia, lies Gesha Village, near the birthplace of the legendary Gesha coffee variety. Filmmakers Adam Overton and Rachel Samuel were captivated by the region's potential while working on a coffee documentary. Together with coffee expert Willem Boot, they established Gesha Village with a vision to cultivate exceptional Gesha coffee in its ancestral homeland.

Since 2011, the farm has grown to approximately 470 hectares, beginning with the careful clearing of land along the forest's edge. Committed to preserving the native forest and supporting the local community, Gesha Village continues to create employment opportunities and support education while developing a sustainable future for Gesha coffee in its place of origin.
