Ethiopia Hure Station

Bursa Coffee is built on the shared vision of two generations: Mulugeta Muntasha, who carries on a family legacy of coffee farming in Arbegona, Sidama, spanning more than 300 years, and his son, Degefu Mulugeta, who has brought modern systems and a new focus on specialty coffee to their work.

The name Bursa comes from a tree traditionally used in Sidama for burning incense. Associated with comfort and healing, the name reflects the values at the heart of Bursa Coffee.

Hure Station is Bursa Coffee’s newly established production site in Hure Kebele, Arbegona. Located at around 2,400 meters above sea level, Hure is one of the few areas within Arbegona where coffee can be cultivated at such a high elevation, making it an area with remarkable potential for the future.

Here, Bursa Coffee is building a new foundation for coffee production, centered around young coffee trees less than five years old. The team is introducing the 74158 variety while also providing cultivation training to local farmers.

At Hure Station, the work goes beyond growing coffee. By sharing new varieties, knowledge, and cultivation practices with local farmers, Bursa Coffee is laying the groundwork for a future shaped not by one producer alone, but by an entire community growing together.
