Francisco Mena & Sumava

Francisco Mena

After the era of micromill innovation that took place in Costa Rica in the early 2000s, we introduce the coffee of Francisco Mena, CEO of Exclusive Coffee, who now leads Costa Rica’s specialty coffee industry and operates the Sumava micromill.

This coffee is produced in Naranjo, Alajuela, in the West Valley region of Costa Rica, and was finally processed and prepared at the Sumava micromill.

Micromill Sumava

The Sumava micromill is managed in two sections, Monte Lourdes and Monte Llano Bonito. This coffee is a Geisha variety produced at the El Kinkajou lot of Monte Lourdes farm.

El Kinkajou, located at an altitude of 1,650–1,700 meters, is named after a wild raccoon-like animal native to Costa Rica. Since coffee production began, it has become a regular visitor that comes to eat the cherries.
