ORIGIN STORY

Pallani × Lugmapata · Palatanga, Chimborazo, Ecuador

A coffee made by neighbors — grown by one farm, refined by another.

Pallani

On the western slopes of the Ecuadorian Andes, in the Palatanga region of Chimborazo Province, two small farms work side by side. Pallani, led by Dayana Aguirre, grows cherries with quiet patience. Lugmapata, just next door, has spent years refining the craft of processing.

Amigo Project

The Amigo Project — amigo meaning "friend" in Spanish — is what happens when these two come together.

Pallani brings the fruit. Lugmapata brings the hands that shape it. Cherries grown under the same sun, the same wind, and nearly the same soil are passed from one farm to another, where processing methods developed over many seasons draw out their clearest expression.

This is not a single-estate coffee. It is something more interesting: a coffee built on complementarity. For Pallani, the project opens a path to stable quality and export markets. For Lugmapata, it expands the range of what their processing can express. Each farm completes what the other begins.

In the Cup

Rather than reaching for bold individuality, Amigo Project speaks through balance, clarity, and stability. It reflects the character of Palatanga itself — a quiet terroir made legible through careful hands.
