ORIGIN STORY
Pablo Andrés Guerrero — The Architect Who Listens to the Land
Origin Story
High in the Andes at 2,200 meters above sea level lies El Obraje, a farm shaped by an unusual hand. Its producer, Pablo Andrés Guerrero, was an architect before he was a coffee grower — and it shows. He designed the farm tree by tree, building an environment for coffee to grow rather than imposing one on it. More than half of El Obraje remains untouched, left to the rhythm of the forest it has always been part of.
That quiet, patient approach earned him first place at the Cup of Excellence. For Pablo, the win wasn't a destination — it was confirmation that following the land, rather than forcing it, was the right path. He has been making coffee the same way ever since.
Moka — The First Harvest
Three years ago, Pablo planted his first Moka trees in the soil of El Obraje. Moka is a small, delicate, famously difficult variety — but one that rewards patience with an extraordinary concentrated sweetness. He knew it would take time, and he was willing to wait.
In 2025, the trees bore fruit for the first time.
The cherries were fermented for 48 hours, sealed away from light and air, then slowly shade-dried over 15 days. Nothing rushed, nothing forced. What remains in the cup is the deep, condensed sweetness that defines Moka — alongside a brightness that belongs only to a first harvest.
